May was long, but June is finally here. June for our family is full of birthdays and celebrations. So far, though, it's just been good old family time.

A Floral Affair
DSC_0281
Our girls have turned into garden fey with all the roses, peonies, irises, and clematis blooming around here.

My "Vicious Vivi" is especially rambunctious among the floral growth. She likes to eat it, basically.

They love when daddy cuts them big, poofy peonies to carry around like magic wands.

A Canning Date
DSC_0395
Sometimes during the summer months, when Justin and I aren't able to schedule babysitters and movie tickets, we plan a "canning date" instead.

We stay up late after the girls are in bed, drinking wine together, and cooking things like this blackberry jam to can in jars. It's a really lovely way to spend time together without having to plan a night out. We joke, and talk... and can.

And maybe we flirt and kiss just a bit.

Hey, you gotta keep the romance alive, right?

The Pool

We purchased an inflatable pool after temperatures reached close to 100 degrees this week.

My fierce Violet is surprisingly shy when it comes to the pool water, but I think she'll adjust. Meanwhile Eisley talks non-stop about swimming.

The Indoor Pool

Our heated indoor claw-foot pool always makes these pies happy, however.

Bath time is the favorite pre-bedtime activity in Lark & Lola House.

For those days when we want to put them to bed early, bath time is the perfect wind-down experience.

The Year of the Boot
WP_000612
My mother has declared 2012 "The Year of the Boot". She gave us Wellies for Mother's day. Then, today she took my sister & I to P.F. Chang's for lunch followed by a cowgirl boot shopping spree at Sheplers. {For Christmas, she has vowed to get us new snow boots. Well, shoot!}

And so my sis and I picked out a new pair. It was the best birthday gift ever, thanks Mom!

These are the boots I picked out. I love them. What a great start to June.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mom! I love them!!!

  2. In response to my dear Colleen:

    1. You & Ryan should totally plan a canning date! Get some practice for spending nights IN when that baby comes ;-)
    2. Thank you!
    3. Hehe...thank you. I'm usually not one for displays of affection but I just couldn't help myself with that one.
    4. I'll have to work on a post that shows their evil side...
    5. The last few are camera phone pics, but I always edit my photos in Picasa. Do you have Picasa? If not, download it, it's free!
    6. Sheplers is having a boot sale...just sayin'.

    Thanks for the comment :-)

  4. So I know this is stupid, because he is her dad, but Eisley looks SO like Justin!
